HENRI J. F. W. BRUGMANS
Psychologist. B. 1885, d. March 1, 1961, Groningen, Netherlands. Professor of psychology, Groningen University, 1928-1954. Professor Brugmans played an active part in the development of the study of parapsychology in the Netherlands, beginning a series of experiments in 1919 with a student who appeared to possess extraordinary extrasensory powers. With Dr. G. Heymans and Professor A. A. Weinberg, Proessor Brugmans found the influence of telepathy statistically significant in the investigation, on which the three men reported in the paper "Een Experimenteel Onderzock Betreffende Telepathie" (Mededeelingen der S.P.R., Vol. 1, 1921). The investigation was also reported by Dr. Brugmans to the First International Congress on Pyschical Research at Copenhagen in 1922.
